Meet Pore.celin, the skincare brand bridging the gap between people of color and Korean beauty

Embracing the Korean tradition of glowing glass skin, Pore.celin was created to bridge the gap between people of color and Korean beauty. Due to melanated skin not being the popular complexion in Korea there is a widespread misconception that K-beauty products aren’t effective on diverse skin.

K-Beauty is a collective term for skincare products that originated in Korea. Korean skincare focuses on soothing and nourishing the skin, making sure it is properly hydrated with an emphasis on brightening effects.  Whereas western skincare focuses on exfoliating to reveal new skin, Korean skincare is all about putting nutrients back into the skin. Korean skincare adopts a more gentle approach, with less of a focus on scrubs, retinols and harsh acids.

The Korean beauty industry is one of the most influential and lucrative in the world, with products ranging from creams to masks to makeup. However, despite its widespread reach and popularity, there is a distinct lack of diversity in this industry that needs to be addressed. While Korean beauty brands often feature Asian models on their packaging and product advertisements, they rarely showcase other ethnicities, such as those from the African diaspora. This lack of representation sends a damaging message to potential customers that Korean beauty products are only meant for certain kinds of people.

Moreover, there is an overall shortage of diversity in terms of product offerings and ingredients used by these companies. For instance, many brands stick to the same range of ingredients, leaving out the more unique and specialized ones that could be beneficial for people with different skin tones and textures. They also don’t take into account the fact that certain ingredients may not work as effectively on all skin types, making their products less suitable for some customers.

Prioritizing inclusion, Pore.celin has curated products that are POC friendly & use ingredients that naturally brighten the skins complexion. Our products eliminate acne, dark spots and hyperpigmentation; and strengthens skin’s barrier function through intense hydration.

Say hello to your new Korean beauty obsession.
